Blink

Brand identity, UI, and payment flows for a fintech startup building a faster, simpler payments experience.

Blink is a fintech startup building a faster, simpler way to move money. I was the sole designer, working directly with the founding team on the brand, the UI, and every core flow from scratch.

Research

I went through the payment flows in every fintech app I could and kept hitting the same three things: too many decisions crammed onto one screen, transaction histories you have to scroll sideways to read, and filters built around the database instead of how people actually look for a transaction.

Brand Identity

Blink had to feel fast and trustworthy at once, two things that usually pull against each other. The logomark is a B with a star that blinks; the deep green carries the trust, since that's the colour we read as steady and secure.

PAYMENT FLOWS

One decision per screen

Every flow (deposit, transfer, withdrawal) is the same three steps: choose the method, enter the details, review and confirm. Moving money makes people nervous, so each screen asks for one decision and nothing else, which keeps you sure of what's happening at every step.

TRANSFER HISTORY

Restructuring around vertical scanning

This was the hardest part. Transaction data is dense, and the UI I started from packed so much into each row that it spilled into sideways scrolling. I rebuilt it around vertical scanning: each transaction type is recognizable at a glance, each row is cut to what you actually need, and the filters follow how people think about their own history instead of how the database stores it.

REFLECTION

In a money app, every screen either earns a bit of trust or spends it, and designing under that pressure changed how I approach anything high-stakes. It was built inside a stealth startup, so some of it I can only show in person, happy to walk you through it.
